WASHINGTON, D.C. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team bested Howard, 4-2, Tuesday afternoon to close out the 2019 non-conference schedule.
The Bonnies improve to 5-10 on the season while Howard falls to 5-9-1 overall.
Howard jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 20th minute of the first half and the Bison took that advantage into halftime.
St. Bonaventure came alive in the second half, however.
Later in the second half, Joshua Pulla put the Bonnies ahead, 2-1, after the Howard goalkeeper misplayed the ball right to Pulla. The Bonnies added another goal when Cuneyt Vardar beat three defenders and found Shea Currey who punched in the shot, giving the Bonnies a 3-1 lead.
Bona added a fourth goal after Aidan Conaghan and Vardar linked up for a give and go with Conaghan sending in a cross that bounced off a Howard defender for an own goal, pushing the Bonnies lead to 4-1.
Howard added a late goal with two minutes left in the contest, making the final score, 4-2.
Trevor Wilson got the start in net and made five saves.
The 2019 season concludes Saturday at home when the Bonnies host La Salle. That game is slated for 7:00 p.m.
