The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team returns home to host George Washington Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Marra Athletics Complex. The contest is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start. Wednesday marks the first home game for the Bonnies since Sept. 21.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies battled Duquesne Saturday, Oct. 5 on the road, falling 4-0. Goalkeeper Kyle Cunningham made five saves in net, making his second career start in goal. Joshua Pulla had three shots to pace the Bonnies attack while Shea Currey and Francesco Caorsi added two shots each.
The Bonnies and the Colonials have met a total of 13 times with the all-time series tied at 6-6-1. George Washington won the last matchup between the two teams last season, 4-0, in Washington, D.C. Before last season, the Bonnies were the winners of two contests in a row, winning 1-0 in 2016 and 2-1 in 2015.
THE OPPONENT: GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials enter Wednesday's match with an overall record of 2-7-1 and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 play. GW last played Oct. 1 on the road at No. 1 Virginia, losing 3-0 and have lost five straight overall. George Washington's last win was a 2-1 victory over Brown on Sept. 14. Senior Max Holdsworth leads the Colonials with three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. Goalkeeper Justin Grady has made seven starts in net, making 24 saves and is credited with three shutouts.
The Bonnies head back on the road with a trip to Dayton Saturday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
