The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team hosts VCU this Saturday as they begin Atlantic 10 play. The Bonnies are 2-3 on the season and coming off a 3-0 victory over Canisius on Tuesday.

DYCK REACHES DOUBLE DIGIT POINTS
Senior Jacob Dyck recorded a goal and an assist to power a win against Canisius for his first three points of the season. The forward now has 11 points in his collegiate career after recording four in both his freshman and sophomore year. After Tuesday's win, Dyck is now SBU's active points leader.

GETTING ON THE BOARD
Freshmen Luca Nicastro and Callum Beattie also recorded assists in Tuesday night's game, the first collegiate point for each player. Nicastro's assist came after he found space in the middle of the box where the Canisius goalkeeper deflected it straight to Jacob Dyck. Callum's assist was a through ball to Fredrick Hansen who finished it for a goal.

ATLANTIC 10 SCHEDULE
After Saturday's match Bona's A-10 schedule will go as following:

On Saturday, Sept. 28 the Bonnies take a trip to the Bronx to face Fordham. The following weekend will be a trip to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne Saturday, Oct. 5.  SBU is then home on Wednesday, Oct. 9 against George Washington.

Next, it's back on the road against Dayton on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Bonnies then host George Mason on Saturday, Oct. 19 for Senior Day. It's then a trip to North Carolina to take Davidson on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Finally, A-10 play closes at home against La Salle on Saturday, Nov. 2.

DEFENSE STEPPING UP
Bona's defensive has been solid in the past four matches. Over that span, including games against Navy, UMBC, Hartford and Canisius, the Bonnies have surrendered just two goals and recorded two shutout wins. Justyn Sandhu was in net for three of those games, including a clean sheet win at UMBC, while Trevor Wilson earned his first shutout with the program Tuesday vs. Canisius.

THE OPPONENT: VCU
The Rams are 1-4 on the year and are looking to bounce back from a road loss at Old Dominion 3-1 on Tuesday.  VCU is led by redshirt sophomore Fiorre Mane and freshman Maverick McGann with a goal each this season. Junior Mario Sequeira, an All-Atlantic 10 Second Team pick last year, leads the Rams in net with 1.38 goals against average in net. Despite their slow start, the Rams were the A-10 preseason favorite in the coaches' poll after winning last year's regular season conference title.

UP NEXT

The Bonnies will again step out of Atlantic 10 play next week with their next match coming at Little Three rival Niagara on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
