Bonnies To Make Home Debut Against Hartford

The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team hosts the Hartford Hawks Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Marra Athletics Complex. Sunday marks the home debut for the 2019 Bonnies and kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Francesco Caorsi netted the game-winning goal in the 11th minute to send the Bonnies home victorious over UMBC Sunday, Sept. 8. Freshman Justyn Sandhu made three saves in net for his first career shutout.

THE OPPONENT: HARTFORD
Hartford enters the weekend with a 1-2 overall record early in the 2019 season. The Hawks' lone win came in a 2-1 victory over Brown on Sept. 6. Sergi Martinez, Nick Benjamin and Addrian Knights-Brown all have scored a goal this season while Aitor Elena leads the team with two assists. Goalkeeper Jimmy Slayton has started all three contests in net for the Hawks, making nine saves. Hartford was picked to finish eighth in the America East Preseason poll.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Bonnies return home to the Marra Athletics Complex for their first home contest of the season. Bona has played its first three games of the season on the road in Florida and Maryland. The Bonnies will play half of their home schedule in a span of seven days with Canisius and Atlantic 10 foe VCU also visiting the Marra Athletics Complex in the next week. After Sept. 21, the Bonnies do not return home again until Oct. 9.

SANDHU STANDING TALL
Freshman goalkeeper Justyn Sandhu has played well to begin his collegiate career, starting the last two contests in net for the Bonnies. In those two games, Sandhu has allowed just one goal and made six saves. He is touting a .857 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average.

ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM PICKS
St. Bonaventure University men's soccer players Francesco Caorsi, Julius Stefansson and Justyn Sandhu earned spots the UMBC-Navy All-Tournament Team for their performances over the weekend. Caorsi had the game-winner in the UMBC game while Sandhu was outstanding in net. Stefansson was part of a Bona defense that allowed just one goal in two matches.

UP NEXT
It is a quick turnaround for the Brown and White as they host Canisius Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Marra Athletics Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
