The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team returns to action with a pair of road matches in Maryland this weekend. The first stop on the docket is Annapolis on Friday for a matchup against the Navy Midshipmen, slated for 5:30 p.m. The final stop on the weekend features the Bonnies and UMBC Sunday evening with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The Bonnies last saw the playing field last Friday, Aug. 30 on the road at FIU. Battling the elements following a long lightning delay, sophomore Cuneyt Vardar notched his first career goal in the 42nd minute of the match. It was not enough as the Golden Panthers defeated the Bonnies, 5-1. Bona's game scheduled for Sunday morning against FAU was canceled due to Hurricane Dorian.

The Midshipmen enter the weekend with a perfect record of 2-0 to start the season. Navy started the year with a 3-1 victory over UNC-Asheville and then a 1-0 win over George Mason. Jacob Williams, Ethan Singer, Matt Nocita and Joe Alex each have a goal apiece for Navy. Goalkeeper Ian Bramblett is 2-0 in net, making just one save and allowing just the one goal. The Midshipmen were picked to finish sixth in the 10-team Patriot League Preseason Poll after finishing 5-11-1 a season ago.

UMBC has suffered a slow start to the season following a 2-1 loss to Incarnate Word and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hofstra to open the 2019 campaign. The Retrievers open their season with five consecutive home games at Retriever Soccer Park. Junior Sammy Dupuy has scored the only goal for UMBC this season and Jon Bell was credited with the assist. Last year UMBC finished with a 10-6-4 record and advanced to the America East Championship Game. The Retrievers were picked to finish third in the America East Preseason Poll.

Both games this weekend will have a web stream of the contest available for fans to watch. Each is available at the links above and are free to watch.

Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy property. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting one hour before the game and will continue running until one hour after the game is completed. Fans 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Enter Gate 5 off Taylor Ave. to park at the stadium. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. All soccer contests at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility will be free of charge.
