PHILADELPHIA – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to Saint Joseph's, 3-0, Saturday evening on the road.
Saint Joseph's struck in the opening minutes, grabbing the momentum from the first whistle.
Leon Marc found the back of the net just 90 seconds into the game, giving the Hawks a 1-0 advantage.
The Hawks were looking to keep the pressure on the Bonnies.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Elliott made back-to-back saves in the 27th minute to keep the game at a one goal deficit.
In the 28th minute, Garrett Lyons found himself open in front of net. Lyons slotted the ball through the Bonnies defense as Saint Joe's took a 2-0 lead into the half.
Kosi Nwafornso had two scoring opportunities late in the first half for the Bonnies. In the 42nd minute, Nwafornso tried poking the ball to the bottom right corner of the net, but it went just wide. Just moments later in the 44th minute, he had a shot blocked in front of net, keeping the Bonnies scoreless.
Saint Joseph's made the lead 3-0 in the 69th minute when Maric netted his second goal of the game.
The Bonnies fall to 5-7-1 overall and 2-4 in the Atlantic 10 while the Hawks improve to 8-5-2 and 2-2-2 in the A-10.
St. Bonaventure returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 24 when Howard travels to the Marra Athletics Complex, for the final non-conference game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
