The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team is slated for a pair of games this week, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 16 on the road at Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference matchup. The Bonnies return to action Saturday, Oct. 20 also on the road in the City of Brotherly Love for an Atlantic 10 matchup against Saint Joseph's. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies lost a heartbreaker, 2-1, to Saint Louis Saturday at the Marra Athletics Complex. The Bonnies were able to get on the board first with a successful penalty kick from senior Kosi Nwafornso after Nikko Richards was able to draw a foul in the box in the 42nd minute. Saint Louis netted the equalizer in the 48th minute and stole the game on a successful penalty kick in the 89th minute.
AT THE PENALTY SPOT
Senior forward Kosi Nwafornso is a perfect 4-for-4 in penalty kicks this season, making him the only player in NCAA Division I to successfully convert four penalty kicks this season. Nwafornso has successfully converted penalty shots against Louisville, Niagara, St. Francis (Pa.) and Saint Louis this season.
Syracuse enters Tuesday's contest with an overall record of 6-4-1 and a 1-3 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Orange have won three straight contests, including a 2-0 victory over No. 1 Wake Forest on Oct. 5. Ryan Raposo paces the Orange with 12 points including three goals and six assists. Also scoring double-digit points for Syracuse is Tajon Buchanan with 10 points on three goals and four assists. Hendrik Hilpert has made all 11 starts in net and has 36 saves on the season.
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S
The Hawks enter the week holding a record of 7-4-2 and 1-1-2 in the Atlantic 10. Saint Joseph's most recent win was a 3-2 overtime victory Oct. 6 against No. 21 Fordham. Alvin Dahn has 19 points on the year with six goals and seven assists. Leon Maric leads the Hawks with seven goals on the year. Joseph Boehm has started in 13 games in net, allowing 21 goals and stopping 52 shots.
The Bonnies are back at home with a non-conference matchup Wednesday, Oct. 24 against Howard. That game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
