NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure's Kosi Nwafornso has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, conference officials announced Wednesday.
The freshman forward appeared in 18 matches and started 15, scoring a team-high four goals. Three of his goals came in Atlantic 10 play. Nwafornso tallied a pair of scores to lift the Bonnies to an upset 2-1 win on the road at George Washington in October, earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for his performance. He also found the net vs. UMass and also in non-conference play vs. Detroit.
Nwafornso continued to improve as the season went on, scoring three times in the season's final five matches.
"I am happy for Kosi for such an accomplishment," Bonnies head coach Kwame Oduro said. "He is a kid that put in a ton of work during the months leading up to the season and that has paid off. We hope he continues his development as an elite player in our conference."
He joins Kennedy Nwabia of Dayton, Peace Drevitch of Duquesne, Janos Loebe and Rashid Nuhu of Fordham, Dominik Richter and Emil Jesman Sunde of Rhode Island, Derek MacKinnon of Saint Joseph's, Anthony Brow and Lennart Hein of Saint Louis and Lyndsey Moreland of VCU on the All-Rookie Team.
