PHILADELPHIA – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team finished its 2015 season by dropping a 4-1 decision at Saint Joseph's on Saturday night.
The sides exchanged early attacks with a shot from SBU's David Shafer on net being turned away by Saint Joseph's keeper Greg O'Connell in the seventh minute. Four minutes later, Bonnies keeper Bobby Diaz stopped a shot by Derek Mackinnon of the Hawks to keep things scoreless.
The Hawks (4-12-2, 2-5-1 Atlantic 10) broke through with the first goal of the night 28 minutes in when Tim Lazorko received a centering pass in the middle of the box and fired a low shot past the keeper to start the scoring.
The 1-0 score held through halftime, and the Bonnies threatened to tie with shot on net from Bonaventure Akinlosotu in the 54th minute, but again O'Connell made the save.
Saint Joseph's notched another tally in the 56th minute with Lazorko again striking with his second goal of the night.
The Hawks seized control by adding goals in the 64th and 81st minutes before the Bonnies cracked into the scoring in the final minute of the match. Freshman Anthony Gaglianese recorded his first career goal off a free kick, curling his shot to the upper right corner of the net from the top of the box.
Diaz made seven saves for the Bonnies (2-16-1, 1-7-0) while O'Connell earned the win with four saves for the Hawks.
