PITTSBURGH – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Duquesne on a rainy night at Rooney Field.
Duquesne (5-8-2, 3-2-1 Atlantic 10) seized momentum early as the Dukes tallied the first goal in the 19th minute when Colin Phillips received a free kick from Brandon Walbert and found the net for his ninth tally of the year.
The Dukes struck again just over three minutes later with Bryan Fegley scoring off the rebound of a mishandled cross, colliding with Bonnies goalkeeper Luke Iacobellis on the play.
Senior Breno Calegari took over in net for the final 68 minutes for his first career appearance as a goalkeeper. Calegari played well through the rest of the contest, but the Dukes gained insurance from the second goal of the night by Phillips in the 57th minute.
Sophomore Kieran Toland recorded two shots for the Bonnies with seven other players in Brown and White firing one apiece.
St. Bonaventure (2-14-1, 1-5 A-10) is off until next Saturday, hosting Saint Louis on Senior Day at the Marra Athletics Fields Complex.
