The #13 St. Bonaventure Bonnies traveled to South Bend, Indiana to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, October 11th. The match kicked off at 6pm in windy, mid-40 degree temperatures under a steady rain. The Irish scored a penalty kick in the 26th minute, and a converted try in the last minute of the first half. The majority of the first half was back-and-forth possession and the 10 points the Irish scored were the result of retaining possession during steady drives down the pitch. The score at halftime was 10-0, Irish on top.

Ten minutes after the start of the second half, Josh Smith made a long break deep into Irish territory and the forwards worked to finish it off with Colin Sustersic touching it down to cut the Irish lead in half. In the 67th minute, the Irish put a penalty kick through to put themselves ahead 13-5. With 10 minutes remaining, the Bonnies made another push with the forwards, and Colin Sustersic finished it to cut the Irish lead to 3. Possesion alternated for the better part of the last 10 minutes, and with the match in its last minute, 8-man Tyler Tomlinson took a pick deep into Irish territory. The Bonnies put phase after phase together in an effort to take a last-minute victory, but fell just short. The final score was Notre Dame - 13, St. Bonaventure - 10.

The Bonnies travel to West Point to take on #12 Army this Saturday, October 19th. The match is their 5th of 8 this season. The Bonnies will conclude their season on the road traveling to #7 Kutztown after Army, University of Mary Washington after that and following a bye week, will conclude their season playing #15 Iona November 16th.
