On Saturday, October 5th the #12 St. Bonaventure Bonnies hosted the #8 Penn State Nittany Lions. The first half was quick and competitive, and the Nittany Lions scored first in the 10th minute. In the 21st minute the Bonnies answered back and then scored again 7 minutes later. The two scores put the Bonnies ahead 12-5. The first, a try by North Westall converted by Josh Smith. The second was a long breakaway by Josh Smith, singlehandedly weaving through 40 meters of Penn State defenders. As the first half came to a close, the Nittany Lions found the try zone and converted to lock the halftime score at 12-12.

Penn State came out of the break putting themselves back on top with an early penalty kick followed by three tries before the Bonnies put any more points up on their side of the scoreboard. The Bonnies picked up some momentum with an Alex Holden try, followed by a Jon "Shifty" Rodriguez penalty kick. The Nittany Lions managed to hold the Bonnies off for the remainder of the match, though it was close at times. The Lions scored twice more before the clock reached full time. The final score read Penn State - 42, St. Bonaventure - 20.

The match featured recognition of the team's seniors and rounded out the Bonnies' three-match home stand, as they will finish the season's remaining six matches on the road. This Friday, October 11th, the Bonnies travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on the University of Notre Dame.
