Bonnies Take Down NDC to Open Conference Play

The #13 Bonnies hosted the #14 Notre Dame College Falcons on Saturday, September 21st in their first conference match of the season. The match opened with a long, exciting try by Chaz Schwenk, chasing his own kick down the field to score in the 5th minute. The Falcons responded in the 20th minute with a try, but after a penalty kick by Josh Smith and a powerful Jack Wiles try in the 31st minute, the Bonnies took the wheel. One more penalty kick before the half made the score 20-5 at the break. Evan Titus found the try zone in the 58th minute, and the Falcons scored one more time in the 64th minute. With the clock winding down in the 78th minute, Jon "Shifty" Rodriguez closed out the Bonnies' scoreline with a last-minute try. Time expired with the score 32-12 in the Bonnies' favor. Josh Smith made 3 conversions (6', 33', 79') and 2 penalty kicks (26', 40'), contributing 12 points on the day.

The Bonnies improved their national ranking to 12th with their win over Notre Dame College. This Saturday, September 28th, the JV and Academy teams face off in an inter-squad matchup at 11:30am. Next Saturday, October 5th, the #12 St. Bonaventure Bonnies will host the #8 Penn State Nittany Lions at 1:00pm, their second of five conference matches. This match will include senior recognition and it will be the Bonnies' final match at home before going on the road for the remainder of the season.
