Bonnies Duo Named To MAAC All-Championship Team

EDISON, N.J. – In a year where the St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse team has made history again and again, a pair of Bonnies get their own spot in the program's record books as the first SBU players to earn MAAC All-Championship Team honors: sophomore Jake Rosa and junior Brett Dobson.

The Bonnies won their first postseason game April 30 vs. Detroit Mercy, 11-8, to reach the MAAC semifinals before seeing their season end at Monmouth May 5. Rosa and Dobson were integral to Bona's outstanding season, now adding All-Championship Team accolades in addition to being named to the All-Conference teams following the regular season.

Rosa, the MAAC's Offensive Player of the Year, scored four goals with three assists in Bonaventure's two postseason games. He scored twice in each game including a team-best four points (two goals, two assists) in the Bonnies win over Detroit Mercy. He added three points in the semifinal game at eventual league champion Monmouth.

A native of Windsor, Ontario, who had only played six games at the Division I level prior to this season, Rosa finished the year leading the MAAC in points (39) and assists (22) while also scoring 17 goals.

Dobson further cemented himself as not only one of the MAAC's top goalies this year but also one of the nation's best in his third collegiate season. During the MAAC Championship Tournament, he made 25 saves for the Bonnies. In Bona's win quarterfinal over Detroit, he turned away 12 shots while holding one of the league's top offenses to just eight goals. He also made 13 saves in the semifinals at Monmouth.

The Oshawa, Ontario native was named MAAC Second Team All-Conference as one of two goalies in the league to earn all-conference honors this year. As of May 8, Dobson ranked second in the nation for season save percentage (.599), sixth in saves per game (13.6) and seventh in goals against average (9.1).

St. Bonaventure finished its third Division I season at 5-5 and graduates just one senior off this year's roster.
