ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse junior Sean Westley has earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors after a record-setting performance in the Bonnies' last game.
The Whitby, Ontario native wrote his name into the Bona record book with six goals in SBU's regular season finale vs. Siena last weekend, an 11-6 victory. No Bonnies player had scored more than four goals in a single game since the program returned to the Division I level three years ago.
Westley scored early and often, registering a hat trick just three and a half minutes into the second quarter. He also added two groundballs in the victory. He was around the net all day, firing 10 total shots.
A third-year member of the program, Westley led the MAAC in goals this season by scoring 19 times. He also handed out seven assists for a total of 26 points, good for third in the conference.
Westley becomes the first Bonnies player to win top MAAC offensive weekly honors since the program was reborn in 2019. The weekly awards are voted on by the league's sports information directors.
St. Bonaventure will play host to Detroit Mercy in the first round of the MAAC Championship Tournament Friday, April 30 at 1 p.m.
