ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has unveiled a conference-only 2021 spring schedule for men's lacrosse with eight games on deck.
St. Bonaventure will host four home games at the Marra Athletics Complex this spring, but the schedule begins on the road with a "preliminary" game at Quinnipiac on March 6. Though Quinnipiac is a MAAC opponent, the first weekend of games will not count toward the MAAC standings.
The official start of the regular season comes March 13 when the Bonnies and Titans do battle in the Motor City.
The MAAC schedule features weekend-only play with all league games on Fridays and Saturdays.
For the third weekend of the spring slate, the Bonnies are scheduled to travel to Buffalo for a date with Little Three rival Canisius March 20. After that, the Bonnies will play just one more road game, at Monmouth April 17.
Bona's long-awaited 2021 home opener will come against Quinnipiac March 27.
Other home contests will see the Bonnies welcome Manhattan (April 3), 2019 MAAC champion Marist (April 10) and Siena (April 24).
"Every game counts and we are excited to get started," Bonnies head coach Randy Mearns said. "It's been nearly a year since we faced an opponent and almost two years since we faced a MAAC opponent. Our guys are counting the days to once again get the equipment on and compete."
Any necessary makeup games could be played on April 30. The MAAC Championships are penciled in for May 6-9 at a site to be determined. MAAC spring sports will not play any out of conference contests in 2021.
Times and broadcast/streaming information for all games will be released at a later date.
** - The MAAC announced a schedule change on Jan. 22: Instead of playing Detroit Mercy at home in the "preliminary round," the Bonnies will open March 6 on the road at Quinnipiac.
