EDISON, N.J. – St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse freshman attack Jake Rosa has earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week honors following his debut performance this weekend, conference officials announced.
Rosa tallied four goals in the Bonnies' season-opener in Buffalo Sunday vs. Saint Joseph's. The Windsor, Ontario native tied the St. Bonaventure single-game record for goals in a game, three of which came unassisted.
"It was a great start to his rookie campaign," Head coach Randy Mearns said. "He certainly played with confidence and poise in his first game, and it resulted in a big afternoon."
The MAAC weekly awards are based on voting by the league's sports information directors.
Rosa becomes the second Bonnies player to earn the award in program history, joining Brett Dobson who also received Rookie of the Week honors following his St. Bonaventure debut.
The Bonnies are back in action Saturday afternoon at Bellarmine in a contest that is slated to get underway at 1 pm in Louisville.
