EDISON, N.J. – St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse freshman goalkeeper Brett Dobson has earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week honors following his performance this weekend, conference officials have announced.
Dobson made 23 saves in the Bonnies' debut game at the Division I level Saturday at High Point. The Oshawa, Ontario native earned accolades from several corners of the lacrosse world for his multiple highlight reel saves, keeping the Bonnies close during their first contest as he finished the day with a 64 percent save percentage.
"Brett Dobson had a day. He's a phenomenal goalie. He stood on his head all day," St. Bonaventure head coach Randy Mearns said Dobson's effort.
The MAAC weekly awards are based on voting by the league's sports information directors.
The Bonnies are back in action Saturday afternoon at Saint Joseph's in a contest that is slated to get underway at noon in Philadelphia.
