Bonnies Golf Signs Evan Rowane To NLI

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure golf head coach Ryan Swanson has announced the signing of Evan Rowane to a National Letter of Intent to join the Bonnies program beginning this fall.

Rowane comes to St. Bonaventure from Erie, Pa., where he is a standout for Cathedral Prep and was named the Region 6 Male Golfer of the Year as a junior and senior. He led his team to the PIAA AAA Team State Championship in 2020 and placed fifth as an individual at the PIAA tournament in 2019.

A two-time All-District 10 First Team selection, he earned the Erie Times News Golfer of the Year honor in 2019 when he also took First Team All-State honors. A two-year team captain at Cathedral Prep, he shot 68 to win the PIAA Western Regional individual championship and posted a senior year scoring average of 73.1. Rowane also placed third at the 2019 Erie District Golf Association Amateur Championship after firing 71-73-68. He also earned top-20 finishes at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Coca-Cola Junior Championship (71-78-70) and AJGA Penn State Junior Championship (73-71-74).

At St. Bonaventure, he plans to major in accounting.

"We are excited to welcome Evan to St. Bonaventure and our team in August," Swanson said. "In a year where recruiting has proven to be incredibly difficult, I am thrilled to have someone as talented and experienced as Evan joining our program. He is a great student, an incredibly hard worker, and is someone who won't take a back seat to anyone."

Rowane joins what should be a talented roster in 2021-22 as Swanson expects his entire regular lineup to return in the fall.
