Bonnies Golfers Finish 12th at Season-Opening Event

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure golf team started the 2019 fall season with a 12th-place finish at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invite hosted by Colgate at Seven Oaks Golf Club.

Cornell won the tournament title with a 54-hole team total of 880, three shots ahead of Bucknell. St. Bonaventure, meanwhile, had a tough opening round score of 304 on Saturday morning and was left trying to fight back. The Bonnies bounced back with a 297 total in Saturday's afternoon session before finishing with a Sunday round of 299 for a 900 total in the 18-team field.

The Bonnies placed ahead of the only other Atlantic 10 team in the field, besting Rhode Island by one stroke.

Senior Zach Chaddock began his fourth year with the program by leading the team with a 21st place finish in the field of 96 players. After starting with a 4-over 76 on Saturday, Chaddock responded with 2-over74 in the second round an 1-over 73 on Sunday for a 223 total. He also paced the team with nine birdies on the weekend and also eagled the par-5, 519-yard fifth hole in his opening round Saturday.

Freshman Jack Bailey played well in his collegiate debut – he tied for 32nd after carding an opening round 77 and an even-par 72 on Saturday before posting 77 again Sunday for a 54-hole total of 226. He drained seven birdies in his first event with the Brown and White.

Juniors Christian Chapman (77-76-74/227) and Danny Gianniny (74-79-75/228) placed third and fourth on the team while classmate Jack Geise logged 77-75-79/231.
