WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Three St. Bonaventure players carded 1-over par 72s to show the way for the Bonnies in the second round of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate Monday.
Senior Brent Morgan followed up his opening round 74 on Sunday by bettering that score by two strokes in the second round, moving into a tie for 17th in the field of 110 players with a 146 total through 36 holes.
Abendroth posted a team-best four birdies on the 6,817-yard Golden Horseshoe Gold Course layout on Monday while Morgan drained three birdies and Chaddock played an evenly paced round with a 1-over par 37 on the front nine, highlighted by an eagle-3 on the par-5, 498-yard second hole, and even-par 35 on the homeward holes.
St. Bonaventure shot a team score of 295 for the day, vastly improved over its opening round 316. Sunday's struggles still left the Bonnies in 16th place in the field of 21 teams, however, though the Bonnies team total of 611 is in striking distance of several competitors including William & Mary (610), Penn (609), Fairleigh Dickinson (606), Old Dominion (606) Binghamton (603) and Saint Joseph's (601).
The third and final round of the 54-hole tournament tees off Tuesday morning.
