BEALLSVILLE, MD – Steady performances across the board led to a tie for seventh in the final standings Tuesday as the St. Bonaventure golf team closed its fall season by wrapping up the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
The Bonnies turned in a team score of 295 in the final round of the 54-hole tournament, following rounds of 288 and 299 on Monday. The 882 total for the week tied the Bonnies with William & Mary for seventh while Princeton took home top honors with a final posting of 856. Seton Hall (862), Georgetown (868), Butler (871) and Saint Joseph's (875) as well as Florida Atlantic (875) were also in top spots.
Brent Morgan paced the Bona golfers as he finished in a seven-way tie for fourth on the individual leaderboard in the field of 70 competitors with his 2-over 215 total for the week. Morgan's standout round was his career-best 67 in the opening 18 on Monday followed by a second round 75. He closed on Tuesday with a 2-over 73 to cap a top-five finish and strong fall season.
Danny Gianniny worked his way into a tie for 13th overall with a final round 72, closing at 4-over par for the tournament.
Teammates Jack Geise and Zach Chaddock each finished at 225 for the week – Geise after a final round 76 while Chaddock finished with a solid round of 74. Matt Abendroth carded rounds of 78-76-76 for a 230 total.
The Bonnies will now take a break following an action-packed fall season and will return to action Feb. 18-19 in Weston, Fla. for the Atlantic 10 Match Play Championship to kick off the spring.
