BEALLSVILLE, MD – Senior Brent Morgan's opening round 67 highlighted 36 holes of competition for the St. Bonaventure golf team at the Georgetown Intercollegiate Monday.
The Bonnies shot an impressive first round team total of 288 to stand in fourth place, but a challenging second round left Bona with an afternoon 299, leaving the team to settle for 587 on the day and eighth spot on the 12-team leaderboard.
Morgan carded five birdies and just one bogey for a 4-under round of 67 in the morning, his career-low with the Bonnies. It is his third round this season of 68 or better and was just the sixth 67 in Bonnies program history – a total that has been bested just twice, a pair of 66s carded by Patrick Sheerer and Andy Whalen in 2016-17 and 2005-06 respectively.
Unfortunately for Morgan and the rest of his teammates, the second round proved more of a struggle.
Morgan finished with a second round 75 for an even par 142 total, good for a tie for seventh out of 70 competitors.
Danny Gianniny stands tied for 20th after near mirror rounds of 72 and 73 for a total of 3-over 145.
Princeton leads the way with an outstanding 559, ahead of host Georgetown (564) and Butler (571).
