POWELL, Ohio – St. Bonaventure rising senior Brent Morgan earned a top-10 finish at the Ohio Amateur Championship held July 10-13 at Wedgewood Golf Club.
Morgan fired an even-par 71 in both the first and second rounds followed by a third round 72 and final round 75 for a five-over 289 total and a tie for 10th in the top amateur event in the state of Ohio. Only two players in the field of over 100 competitors finished under par for the week.
The native of Coal Grove, Ohio continued what has been an extremely impressive past year of play. In the spring, Morgan was usually at the top of the Bonnies' lineup, averaging a score of 74.3 during the spring season. He captured five top-15 finishes during his junior season including a tie for second at the prestigious Kingsmill Intercollegiate and tie for fourth at the Towson Spring Invitational in April. His play was key to the Bonnies scoring three tournament victories during the 2017-18 season.
Morgan is one of eight returners on this year's Bonnies golf roster. Head coach Ryan Swanson's squad brings back four of the five regular members of last year's lineup for the fall.
