Swanson To Play in PGA Tour Event

ST. BONAVENTURE – St. Bonaventure University golf head coach Ryan Swanson has earned a sponsor exemption to play in the PGA Tour LECOM Health Challenge set for July 6-9 at the Peek 'n Peak Resort in Clymer, N.Y.

All four days of the event will be aired live on The Golf Channel.

The Tour is the developmental tour for the PGA Tour and features some of the top players in the world who are seeking to earn their PGA Tour card.

This year's event will not be Swanson's first go-around as he qualified for the event multiple times in the past with the first coming in 2007 while still an undergrad on the Bonnies golf team. He has had great success at the course in previous years, including capturing the Chautauqua County Men's Amateur Championship in 2007 with a three-under 69.

"Obviously it's very exciting and I am grateful for the chance to play against some of the best players in the world," Swanson said. "It's not every day you get a life-changing opportunity, so I am going to take it all in, enjoy it, and give it my best shot. Hopefully I can get the Bonnies bag on TV!"

Swanson led the Bonnies to one of their best seasons in recent memory this past year, his first full season at the helm of the program. The Bonnies posted two victories and three top-two finishes and captured multiple Atlantic 10 weekly honors with junior Corey Long and freshmen Nolan Ditcher and Zach Chaddock. St. Bonaventure will return all members of its regular lineup for next fall.
