ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University's Josh Stauffer has earned Atlantic 10 Co-Golfer of the Week accolades, conference officials announced Thursday. The weekly A-10 nod is the second in three weeks for the Bonnies senior.
Stauffer, a native of Bradford, Pa., rose to the top of the leaderboard in a pair of tournaments over the past week, winning medalist honors at the Little Three Championship on Sept. 30 and tying for third at the Binghamton Fall Invitational last weekend.
At the Little Three Championship, Stauffer scored his second career victory with a four-over par score of 148 under wet and cold conditions at River Oaks Golf Club in Grand Island. He drained nine birdies during his two rounds, taking the victory by two shots over Niagara's Daniel Weimer. With the win, Stauffer earned a spot in the 2016 Porter Cup next summer at Niagara Falls Country Club.
He again paced the Bonnies on the Links at Hiawatha Landing during the Binghamton Fall Invitational, shooting even-par 72 on Sunday before carding a two-under 70 during Monday's second round. He finished the tournament in a tie for third overall in a field of 85 golfers with a total score of 142 (-2). His play in Binghamton continued a run of three straight top three finishes and helped the Bonnies to a fourth place finish out of 16 teams.
Stauffer shares the conference honor this week with Billy Walthouse of Rhode Island.
