ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – A pair of St. Bonaventure golfers were honored by the Atlantic 10 on Thursday with Josh Stauffer and Brent Morgan sweeping the conference weekly awards by earning Golfer of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors respectively.
Stauffer led the Bonnies with the low round of the 27th annual Leo Keenan Invitational by firing a three-under 67 on Monday at Bartlett Country Club. The round tied the lowest-ever shot by a St. Bonaventure player in the history of the tournament and was the lowest by any Bonnies player in the Leo Keenan Invitational since 2010.
The senior carded a pair of eagles on Monday to complete a strong tournament with a two-day total of 138 (-2) and finish second overall. A native of Bradford, Pa., Stauffer recorded three birdies for a one-over 71 in the first round on Sunday.
Morgan, a freshman, completed the tournament in a tie for 12th overall with a 147 total after finishing with a career-best 73 on Sunday before turning in a 74 on Monday. The native of Coal Grove, Ohio posted a team-best six birdies on the week with three on each day to help the Bonnies to a fourth-place finish in their host tournament.
The Bonnies are next in action on Sept. 30 at the Little Three Championship hosted at Niagara Falls C.C.
