Weekly Awards Continue For Holmes: Big 4 and College Sports Madness Player of the Week

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure junior Jaren Holmes continues to have weekly awards come in after a performance to remember. After earning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors Monday, he followed that up by receiving Big 4 and College Sports Madness Player of the Week accolades.

Holmes was selected as the top Big 4 player during the past week and also cited by College Sports Madness as their A-10 Player of the Week.

The Michigan native poured in a career-high 38 points in the Jan. 6 victory over Saint Joseph's, going 14-for-22 from the floor and 8-for-12 from beyond the arc. He added 10 rebounds for a double-double, also pitching in three assists. The 38 points are the most by any A-10 player in a single game this season while his eight threes are tied for a conference season high.

For the season, Holmes leads the Bonnies with 14.4 points per contest while ranking second in the A-10 by shooting 52.2 percent from long distance.

He becomes the third St. Bonaventure player to earn Big 4 Player of the Week honors this season as the top player from Bonaventure, Buffalo, Canisius and Niagara, joining Osun Osunniyi (Dec. 22) and Kyle Lofton (Jan. 5).

The Bonnies return to action Wednesday at Fordham before welcoming Duquesne to the Reilly Center on ESPN2 this Friday night.
