Ikpeze Inks Professional Contract

Another St. Bonaventure men's basketball alumnus is going pro.

Amadi Ikpeze '20 has signed a professional contract to play overseas in Kosovo with the Rahoveci Basketball Club, a member of the country's top basketball league.

Rahoveci has experienced recent success, finishing as the league's runner-up in 2018-19. The team moved up to the Kosovo Superleague following a 2017 championship victory in the Kosovo Basketball First League.

Ikpeze finished his four-year Bonnies career ranking sixth all-time in games played, appearing in 120 contests in Brown and White. He started 12 of 30 games last year, averaging 13.3 minutes per game and shot nearly 44 percent from the floor. As a junior, he played in 32 games with 13 starts. During the 2017-18 NCAA Tournament season he was a key contributor, averaging 4.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 14.3 points game, starting 11 of the season's final 12 games including the NCAA First Four win over UCLA.

During his time with the Bonnies, he helped the program capture 84 victories with only the graduating classes of 2018 and 2019 scoring more wins in SBU history.

He plans to travel from the United States to begin workouts with his new team in the next few days.

A native of Buffalo, he helped Amherst High to a Section VI, Class A-2 title with a 22-2 record as a senior before staying near home to play at Bonaventure.

He continues the long tradition of Bonnies going pro by becoming the 25th player during the Mark Schmidt era to sign a professional contract. Ikpeze joins former Bonaventure teammates Jaylen Adams '18 (NBA, Portland Trailblazers), LaDarien Griffin '19 (Finland), Courtney Stockard '19 (Finland), Matt Mobley '18 (France) and Denzel Gregg '17 (Bosnia) as pros including multiple other former Bonnies currently active in professional leagues around the world.
