BOCA RATON, Fla. – St. Bonaventure sophomores Dominick Welch and Kyle Lofton each earned spots on the Boca Beach Classic All-Tournament Team after helping the Bonnies to a tourney championship this week.
Welch paced the Bonnies in scoring in both of their victories during the tournament, averaging 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. Against San Diego Sunday night, he poured home 16 points while finishing with six rebounds and two steals. In the title game vs. FAU on Monday, he added 15 points and five boards including five three-pointers to power a second half rally. For the week, we went 9-for-15 from long range.
Lofton filled the stat sheet by averaging 12.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in the victories. He played all but one minute during the tournament, registering 11 points and five assists vs. San Diego before playing the full 40 minutes with 14 points and six assists against FAU. His three with under 50 seconds to play clinched the championship game win.
The Bonnies are back in action Saturday vs. Hofstra at the Reilly Center.
