ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Another product of the St. Bonaventure men's basketball program has signed to play professionally.
Class of 2019 graduate LaDarien Griffin announced his intention to play for the Norrköping Dolphins in Sweden. The former Bonnies forward becomes the 23rd player under head coach Mark Schmidt to move on to a pro career.
Norrköping is a member of the Basketligan, the highest league in Sweden. The Dolphins are five-time league champions.
"Winning is the most important thing for me," Griffin said in a team release. "I want to help the team to be as successful as it can be."
Dolphins coach Mikko Riipinen described Griffin as "an incredibly exciting player" who already has played at a high level of competition.
"We want to offer him an environment with a mix of competition, responsibility and development," Riipinen said.
The 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Co-Most Improved Player of the Year, Griffin scored 10.7 points per game and averaged 6.2 rebounds per contest during his senior season. He played in 97 games during his Bonaventure career, also posting 8.8 points and 6.3 rebounds as he helped the Bonnies to the NCAA Tournament during his junior season.
