ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University men's basketball senior forwards Courtney Stockard and LaDarien Griffin have been named to the Preseason All-Big 4 Teams, officials announced Friday.
The preseason All-Big 4 Teams and individual awards were voted on by Western New York media members.
Stockard, the Bonnies leading returning scorer, is coming off a season in which he averaged 13.3 points along with 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. The 2017-18 campaign was the first in the Brown and White for Stockard, who missed all of the previous two seasons due to foot injuries. He scored in double figures 23 times, including the final 12 games of the season.
The senior from St. Louis, Mo. was named to the preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team.
After averaging just 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds his sophomore season, Griffin emerged as a key contributor during his junior year. The Jacksonville, Fla. native finished his breakout junior season averaging 8.8 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game and 1.2 blocks per game. Griffin also recorded five double-doubles and scored in double figures 12 times.
Following the season, Griffin was named the Co-Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player.
St. Bonaventure opens its regular season Wednesday, Nov. 7 against Bucknell. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with the NCAA Tournament banner ceremony taking place pregame. The Bonnies first Big 4 matchup will be on the road at Niagara Monday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
