St. Bonaventure vs. Florida
St. Bonaventure knocked off UCLA in a First Four matchup that pitted No. 11 seeds on Tuesday night, sending the Bonnies to a matchup vs. No. 6 Florida Thursday at American Airlines Center in Dallas. These teams have met twice dating back to the late 1970s -- with Florida winning both matchups by a combined 20 points.
Players to Watch
Courtney Stockard came back from a hamstring injury to score a game-high 26 points in St. Bonaventure’s win over UCLA. Stockard averaged 12.9 points and 6.4 points per game coming into the tournament.
Jalen Hudson is Florida’s leading scorer with 15.3 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting -- including a stellar 41.1 percent mark from deep.
These teams met just over a year ago -- Nov. 17, 2016 -- at Lakeland Center, a seven-point win for Florida.
The Bonnies had just six turnovers in Tuesday night’s win over UCLA, one that set a program record as its 26th of the season.
The last St. Bonaventure team to win at least 25 games was in 1969-70 -- a team that made the Final Four.
After a two-year absence, Florida is in the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row and seventh time in the last nine years.
This is Florida’s 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and the Gators are 45-18 all-time in the Big Dance.
Despite losing to Arkansas in the SEC Tournament, Florida enters the Big Dance with 20 wins for the third year in a row and 19th time in the last 20 seasons.
