Adams and Mobley To Play In Portsmouth Invitational

Both members of St. Bonaventure's backcourt the past two seasons, point guard Jaylen Adams and shooting guard Matt Mobley, will play in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament this week.

The PIT is an invitation-only event for seniors who have exhausted their college eligibility. It will be held Wednesday-Saturday, April 11-14, at the Churchland High School sports complex in Portsmouth, Va. This is the PIT's 66th year.

A total of 64 players will compete in the event, which annually features some of the nation's most decorated seniors. They will compete in front scouts and talent evaluators from NBA teams as well as European leagues.

Adams and Mobley are not on the same team and will actually play against each other on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Adams and Mobley led St. Bonaventure to a 26-8 record, an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament and a second place finish in the Atlantic 10 this season. The Bonnies' 26 wins set the school record and their win over UCLA in the First Four was the program's first NCAA victory since 1970.

Adams was the fourth-leading scorer in the Atlantic 10 Conference at 19.1 points per game. The Baltimore, Md., native also ranked third in the A-10 in assists (5.2 per game) and in three-point field goal percentage (.436), fifth in three-pointers per game (2.7), seventh in steals (1.5) and sixth in free throw percentage (.851). Adams' season included two games of 40-plus points with 40 at Duquesne and a career high 44 against Saint Louis, a game in which he set a school record with 10 three-pointers. He scored in double figures 24 times with 12 games of 20-plus points.

Adams was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press. He also earned All-District honors from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and was chosen the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Year.

Over his career, Adams was a three-time, first team All-Conference selection. He is the top scoring guard in school history with 1,912 points. He also ranks second on the team's all-time list for three-pointers (270) and third in assists (590).

For the second year, Mobley teamed with Adams to give the Bonnies one of the top backcourts in the country. Mobley was the sixth-leading scorer in the Atlantic 10 at 18.1 points per game. He had 15 games with 20 points or more including three 30-point games. Mobley set a program record with 105 three-pointers. The Worcester, Mass., native also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

Over his two seasons with the Bonnies, Mobley scored 1,209 points. Mobley was named to the All-Conference first team this year and the third team as a junior.
