OPENING TIP

St. Bonaventure's record-setting season continues into the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where the Bonnies will face Florida Thursday night in Dallas.

BONA-NOTEWORTHY
• St. Bonaventure's win over UCLA on Tuesday in the First Four was the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 1970. The Bonnies forced 20 turnovers and scored 30 points off those. Junior forward Courtney Stockard led the way with 26 points, four rebounds and four steals.
• St. Bonaventure is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012, its seventh all-time and second under coach Mark Schmidt.
• The Bonnies have set a school record for most wins in a season with 26. The previous record was 25 wins set by the 1969-70 Final Four team.
• St. Bonaventure has earned three straight 20-win seasons – the first time that has happened for the program since a run of four 20-win seasons from 1958-61. Over the last three years, the Bonnies are 68-28 overall (.711) including 39-15 in the Atlantic 10 (.722).
• The Bonnies are led by their senior backcourt of Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley, both of whom earned first team All-Conference honors. Adams, an All-American candidate, was selected Co-Player of the Year by the A-10 coaches. Mobley has a school record 104 three-pointers.

Head Coach Mark Schmidt
Overall Record: 274-241 (17th season)
At St. Bonaventure: 192-151 (11th season)
NCAA Tournament Record: 1-1 (W UCLA '18, L Florida State '12)
Notable: Has led the Bonnies to three straight 20-win seasons ... the first St. Bonaventure coach since Larry Weise ('68/'70) to lead Bona to multiple NCAAs.

Series With Florida
St. Bonaventure and Florida actually met last season in Lakeland, Fla., with the Gators winning 73-66 on Nov. 17. Matt Mobley led Bona with 28 points in that game while Jaylen Adams scored 20. Florida leads the series 2-0. They have not met in the postseason before.

Adams, Mobley Form One Of Nation's Best Backcourts
The duo of Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley is undoubtedly one of the nation's best backcourts. Despite the intense defensive attention they receive, they are the second-highest scoring tandem in the Atlantic 10 as well as among the A-10 leaders in three-point shooting, assists and steals.

Adams and Mobley Both First Team All-Conference; Adams Is A-10 Co-Player of Year
He has been spectacular the entire season. Now, he is the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. St. Bonaventure senior point guard Jaylen Adams was named the A-10's Co-Player of the Year along with along Davidson senior forward Peyton Aldridge. It marks only the third time in conference history that two players have shared the award. As the Player of the Year, Adams also is a member of the All-Conference first team. In addition, fellow senior guard Matt Mobley joined Adams on the first team All-Conference. Adams is the first St. Bonaventure player ever to earn first team All-Conference honors three times. He is the third Bonnies player to be named the A-10 Player of the Year, joining Andrew Nicholson (2012) and Earl Belcher (1981).

Adams Is Highest Scoring Guard In School History; Stands 6th All-Time
With his 24 points against Richmond Feb. 10, Jaylen Adams became the highest scoring guard in St. Bonaventure history. He moved past guards J.R. Bremer (1,732) and Marques Green (1,734).  Adams now has 1,901 career points, which ranks sixth all-time at Bona's. All of the top five leading scorers in school history are forwards or centers: Greg Sanders, Andrew Nicholson, Earl Belcher, Bob Lanier and Tom Stith.

Mobley Breaks 3-Point Record
Slowing down senior shooting guard Matt Mobley is a high priority for opposing defenders. Even with the added defensive attention, Mobley has continued to perform at a high level. He ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 18.4 points per game, with 15 games of 20-plus points. He has 30 games of 20 points or more in 64 career games at St. Bonaventure. He also has reached the 30-point mark six times in his career, with three of those coming this season. Mobley now also holds the school's single-season record  for three-pointers with 104. The prior mark was 101 set by Chris Matthews in 2009-10. Last season, which was his first at St. Bonaventure after transferring from Central Connecticut State, Mobley went from a virtual unknown to a star, All-Conference player. Mobley's 18.5 ppg average ranked fourth-best in the A-10. Now with 1,199 points over 65 games at St. Bonaventure, Mobley is just the second player in program history who has played only two seasons with the Bonnies and reached the 1,000-point plateau.

Mobley, Adams Closing In On 2,000
Both Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley have a chance to reach 2,000 points. Mobley needs 72 points to reach that milestone, while Adams needs 91. Mobley scored 737 points over two years at Central Connecticut State.
