St. Bonaventure's men's basketball game against Yale on Dec. 9 at the Reilly Center will be televised by ESPNU, marking the first home national TV appearance this season for the Bonnies.
The game, which will now tip-off at noon, will feature one of the Atlantic 10's top programs against last year's Ivy League runner-up. Last season, the Bulldogs reached the Ivy League's first-ever championship game before falling to Princeton. Yale ended with 18 wins and returns its two leading scorers from that team.
St. Bonaventure finished 20-12 last season, its second year in a row of 20 or more wins, and finished fifth in the A-10. Senior All-America candidate Jaylen Adams will lead the Bonnies. Last season, the point guard averaged 20.6 points per game – second-best in the A-10 – and finished seventh nationally in assists (6.5 per game). Adams is joined by senior guards Matt Mobley and Idris Taqqee. Mobley was a third team All-Conference selection last season, when he averaged 18.5 points per game. Sophomore Josh Ayeni returns as the starter at power forward.
The game will be the first contest from the Reilly Center shown on the ESPN family of networks since Feb. 1, 2003, when the Bonnies hosted Temple on ESPN2.
Additional national TV appearances for St. Bonaventure are anticipated when the Atlantic 10 Conference schedule is announced next month.
The ESPNU appearance continues a trend of increasing national TV exposure for St. Bonaventure. Last season, six Bonnies games aired on either NBC Sports Network (five) or CBS Sports Network. In addition, American Sports Network carried eight games.
