School officials from Buffalo, Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure announced today that all four teams will wear special Buffalo Braves-themed throwback uniforms during the Big 4 Basketball Classic, which is set to be held Nov. 29 at First Niagara Center. The throwback uniforms will be modeled after two sets of uniforms that the former NBA team wore during its time in Buffalo, which ran from 1970-78.
The Hyatt Regency and MASH Urgent Care will serve as the presenting sponsors for the throwback uniforms, and each school will auction off the game-worn jerseys, with net proceeds to be donated to each intuitions' charity of choice.
In the first game, Niagara and St. Bonaventure will wear uniforms reminiscent of what the Braves wore during the 1971-73 seasons. As the home team, Niagara will wear white, with the Bonnies wearing the Braves road orange uniforms.
In the nightcap of the Big 4 Basketball Classic, Buffalo and Canisius will wear uniforms made up of the Braves' final color scheme – Columbia blue and white with black trim. The Columbia blue and white color scheme was the franchise's look until the Braves moved to California.
