PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – St. Bonaventure never gained traction against Illinois-Chicago starting pitcher Mark McCabe and dropped a 6-1 decision Friday afternoon at the Snowbird Classic.

UIC jumped on the board with a three-run third thanks to a one-out double from Thomas Norton and a two-run single from Nick Lopez.

Bonaventure starter Andrew White racked up a career-high nine strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work, walking just one, but UIC was able to grab two more runs in the fifth.

That was more than enough from McCabe who kept the Bonnies off balance all day. He took a one-hitter into the ninth before Brendyn Stillman got Bona on the board with a solo homer to right for his sixth round-tripper of the year.

Jeff Palczewski also had a single for the Bonnies.

The Bonnies wrap up their spring break trip by playing Western Michigan Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
