St. Bonaventure baseball product Ryan MacCarrick is continuing his dream of playing professionally after signing a contract to join the Eastside Diamond Hoppers of the United Shore Professional Baseball League.
The USPBL is based in Michigan with four member teams playing a 75-game schedule from May through September. The league is comprised of players ages 18-25 who have not yet reached the affiliated minor leagues. Since the league's inception in 2016, nearly 30 players have gone on to sign with Major League organizations.
An All-Atlantic 10 selection while with the Bonnies, MacCarrick hit .306 over two seasons with the program with eight home runs and 46 RBIs. As a senior in 2018, he hit .331 with a .396 on-base percentage.
MacCarrick joins former Bonnies teammate and fellow Western New York native Tommy LaCongo playing with the Diamond Hoppers. LaCongo earned starting catcher duties at last year's USPBL All-Star Game.
Games are broadcast through ESPN3. For more information on the league, click here.
