Penguins Take Midweek Contest

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State scored early and never let go of control, blanking the St. Bonaventure baseball team by a 10-0 score Wednesday afternoon.

The Penguins (10-32) scored six times in the first two innings to seize control.

In the first, the game began with two walks, a passed ball a single and a homer as the Penguins forced a pitching change before an out was recorded. Two more runs came across in the second.

From there, YSU never looked back.

The Penguins tacked on with three in the fifth and one more in the sixth to complete the scoring.

The Bonnies (8-22) were limited to three hits on the day – singles from Alex Schutz and Nolan Hayward and one extra-base hit, a double by Tyler Kelder.

Casey Vincent tossed two scoreless innings while Michael Krauza also had a scoreless frame, striking out three.

St. Bonaventure returns to Handler Park for the start of a three-game series vs. Atlantic 10 foe Richmond Friday at 3 p.m.
