ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – An eight-run second inning proved the difference as Dayton earned a 9-0 victory in the opening game of an Atlantic 10 series vs. the St. Bonaventure baseball team at chilly Fred Handler Park Friday afternoon.

Dayton (15-12, 5-2 A-10) sent 11 men to the plate in the second, fighting off several good pitches for bloops and flares that went for hits before Eddie Pursinger broke the game open with a grand slam.

From there the Flyers never looked back.

Starter Hunter Wolfe (5-3) struck out 10 over six scoreless innings, scattering four hits and walking just one. Corey Imbriano tossed two scoreless frames and Will Sheats got the final three outs.

Braydon Nelson struck out five over seven innings and Joshua Pittman pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Bonnies (6-14, 3-4) and Flyers renew acquaintances Saturday at noon in the second game of the series.
