Canisius Cruises To Victory in Little Three Series Opener

Canisius Cruises To Victory in Little Three Series Opener

BUFFALO – Host Canisius took control early and never looked back on the way to an 11-0 victory Friday night over the St. Bonaventure baseball team.

Canisius (25-17) seized the momentum with a four-run first inning.

From there, the Golden Griffins only added to their lead.

The hosts scored a run in the second and four more in the fourth, posting another two runs in the sixth.

St. Bonaventure (9-26) could never figure out the Canisius pitching as the Bonnies were limited to three hits off a trio of Canisius pitchers, led by starter J.P. Stevenson who struck out nine over his six innings of work.

For the Bonnies, Ryan MacCarrick, Sam Fuller and Brandon Henshaw collected the hits with the lone extra base hit coming in the form of a double from MacCarrick.

Brian Pulli retired all three batters he faced in the seventh inning while Braydon Nelson also threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Brandon Schlimm started and was charged with the loss.

The Bonnies and Griffs will meet up at Fred Handler Park to continue their Little Three rivalry Sunday afternoon in a doubleheader with two nine inning games on deck. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
