ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Two runs in the fifth inning erased a Bonnies lead and would be enough for visiting Binghamton to hold on for a non-conference 4-3 victory over the St. Bonaventure baseball team Tuesday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

Binghamton struck for a pair of runs in the first inning, but the Bonnies would soon answer to take the lead.

Back-to-back doubles from Daniel Stauffer and Sam Fuller tied the game after Jeff Palczewski was hit by a pitch to lead off the second. Bona pushed into the lead when Mike Magnanti hit a ball deep into the hole at short and Fuller was able to score as he was running on the pitch.

Roman Wild tossed two scoreless innings and Donovan Moffat threw another to maintain the lead until the fifth, but the Bearcats would strike for two to re-take the lead, 4-3. What turned out to be the game-winning run crossed the plate on a hit through the right side by Luke Tevlin with two outs in the fifth.

That would be the end of the scoring as the bullpens would hold the bats quiet the rest of the way.

Joe Orlando threw 4.2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit for Binghamton.

Braydon Nelson, Joshua Pittman and James Wetter all had scoreless frames for the Bonnies 'pen.

Stauffer doubled twice while Magnanti and David Vaccaro each had two hits for St. Bonaventure.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday night at Little Three rival Canisius with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
