ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – A four-run sixth inning broke open a tie game and launched the George Washington Colonials to an 11-4 win and an Atlantic 10 series victory Saturday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

George Washington improves to 24-18 on the year and 10-5 in Atlantic 10 play while the Bonnies now stand at 9-24, 5-11.

All nine men came to the plate in the sixth and a bases clearing double from Mark Osis proved to be the key blow as the Colonials took control and never looked back.

Early on it was a back-and-forth game.

GW pushed an unearned run across in the first thanks to an error and a passed ball.

The Bonnies immediately responded in the second when Jake Foden drilled a ball to straightaway center that reached the 402 sign on the fence. Foden ended up at third with a triple and two runs crossed the plate in front of him for a 2-1 edge.

A three-run third quickly put the visitors back on the top before Jeff Palczewski punched an RBI single to left to cut the deficit to one.

In the fourth, the Bonnies drew even when Brandon Henshaw led off with a triple to right center. One batter later, Casey Vincent knotted the score with a run-scoring ground out for a 4-4 tie.

In the later innings, GW played tack-on with two runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth.

MacCarrick, Palczewski and Henshaw all had two hits apiece for the Bonnies.

Brian Pulli started and worked 4.1 innings, surrendering two earned runs. Roman Wild and Nate Grant both had scoreless innings of relief.

The Bonnies will next host Binghamton in a non-conference single nine inning game Tuesday at home with first pitch slated for a 3:00 p.m.
