PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Mount St. Mary's built an early lead and never looked back on the way to avoiding a sweep in the finale of a three-game series with the St. Bonaventure baseball team in a 16-6 decision Thursday afternoon.

The Mount (2-4) led 6-0 after two innings to seize control.

The Bonnies (2-3) got a run back on a double off the bat of Brandon Henshaw that scored Jake Miknis who had walked to lead off the inning. Another Bona run crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the fourth.

Mount St. Mary's added four runs in each the fourth and sixth innings, however, to end thoughts of a Bonnies rally.

Henshaw and Mike Magnanti each had two hits for the Bonnies while Tyler Kelder scored a pair of runs. Henshaw drove in two runs with Miknis, David Vaccaro and Sam Fuller all posting an RBI apiece.

In all, 21 players saw time for the Brown and White.

The Bonnies return to action Friday morning in the first of a three-game series with Western Michigan in the Sunshine State.
