Melissa McCombs is now in her seventh year at St. Bonaventure University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer on the Sports Medicine Staff. McCombs’ primary responsibilities with the Bonnies include women’s basketball, softball and men’s and women’s cross country.
Prior to arriving at St. Bonaventure, McCombs worked for CCRC Physical Therapy in Fayetteville, N.C. as an Athletic Trainer. She was involved in patient rehabilitation and developing exercises for functional rehabilitation.
In September 2002, McCombs served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Averett University in Danville, Va. She was a Clinical Instructor in the Athletic Training Education Program as well as supervisor for Athletic Training students in clinical rotation. McCombs was promoted in May 2004 to Head Athletic Trainer and served as the football Athletic Trainer for five seasons.
McCombs received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania in 1999. In 2001, she received her Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance, Student Affairs from Clemson University. She is currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix, Online, as a doctoral leaner. Her concentration is Higher Education Administration.
McCombs is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association as well as New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association. She resides in Olean, N.Y. with her daughter, Madison.
