Justin Waas currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the St. Bonaventure Women’s Soccer and Baseball Programs. He began his tenure at St. Bonaventure in September of 2019.
Before joining the St. Bonaventure sports medicine staff, Justin served as an assistant athletic trainer intern for the University of Massachusetts at Lowell from 2017 to 2019. There, he was responsible for the sports medicine needs of the Men’s Soccer and Baseball teams. Prior to his time in Lowell, Waas was a graduate assistant at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, working with women’s soccer, women’s softball, and the men’s and women’s track and field teams, earning his Master of Science degree in Sports Administration. Previous to receiving his master’s, Justin worked at Georgia Southwestern State University, providing sports medicine coverage to the women’s basketball, baseball and tennis teams. Justin was also involved heavily in the preceptor program while serving all 3 of his school, and was a teaching assistant for undergraduate athletic training classes at St. Cloud State University.
Justin, originally from Niagara Falls, NY, earned his Doctorate in Athletic Training from Temple University in the Fall of 2019 with a certificate in teaching in higher education instruction. Justin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Canisius College in May of 2014. Justin is currently licensed in the State of New York and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association. Justin is also a CPR/AED instructor for Health Care Professionals through the American Red Cross, along with being a NASM certified Correctional Exercise Specialist and certified in RockTape Fascial Movement Taping.
