ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University student-athletes again received an impressive report card on the annual NCAA survey on Graduation Success Rate (GSR) released this week. Overall, the Bonnies' four-class average score was 93 percent.
St. Bonaventure registered a perfect 100 GSR in eight different sports: men's basketball, men's cross country/track, golf, men's soccer, women's cross country/track, women's lacrosse, women's soccer and women's tennis.
The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere. This calculation provides a more accurate appraisal of student-athlete success.
Softball also surpassed the national average of 90 percent, scoring a 95 GSR. Women's basketball and women's swimming and diving each were at 90 percent as well.
This past spring, five St. Bonaventure teams earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for scoring in the top 10 percent nationally of their sports in the most recent Academic Progress Report (APR): golf, men's track, women's cross country/track and women's lacrosse. The APR measures both academic performance and retention.
