For the next several weeks, we will use the GoBonnies.com Athlete of the Week awards presented by CPL to honor our spring sport athletes who had their seasons cut short due to Covid-19.
The Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 17 is baseball junior Matthew Williams and the Female Athlete of the Week is women's track junior Samantha Henry.
Williams hit .310 during the Bonnies' shortened season, starting all seven games while driving in five runs and picking up a pair of doubles. He also had a .375 on-base percentage and perfect fielding percentage.
Over the past three seasons, Williams has played in 55 games for the Bonnies including last year when he started 29 of 38 games played with a home run and 15 RBIs.
The Bonnies track team had their entire outdoor season wiped out due to the spring sports shutdown, but the team was able to compete in three indoor events during the winter.
During indoor season, Henry ran the fastest mile time of any Bonnies runner when she crossed the finish line in 5:38.64 at RIT on Feb. 14.
Henry was also a standout during cross country season, she finished in the team's top three in five of six events and also ran the ninth-fastest 5K time in program history (19:18.8) at the Louisville Classic.
