Fitzgerald, Rose Named CPL Athletes of the Week

For the next several weeks, we will use the Athlete of the Week honors presented by CPL to honor our spring sport athletes who had their seasons cut short due to Covid-19.

The Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 3 are men's lacrosse sophomore Jackson Rose and softball sophomore Tierney Fitzgerald.

Rose led the Bonnies with six points on the season, scoring five goals with one assist. He also added four ground balls.

His best game of the abbreviated season came March 2 at High Point, which was nationally-ranked to begin the season. The second-year player delivered his second career hat trick that night, and fifth in program history, finding the back of the cage three times on his three shot attempts.

Rose, who also owns the program record for goals in a game with four last season, has started 15 of 19 career games with 14 goals and two assists.

Fitzgerald had a game to remember at the plate vs. Ohio on March 7, hitting the first two home runs of her collegiate career as she went 2-for-3 with the bat.

In the circle, she had a strong effort in her only pitching performance of the season March 6 vs. Merrimack as she struck out five batters in six innings of work, allowing just two runs on three hits.
